IS-95是由公司发起的第一个基于数字蜂窝标准。基于IS-95的第一个品牌是cdmaOne。IS-95也叫TIA-EIA-95。它是一个使用CDMA的2G移动通信标准，一个数据无线电多接入方案，其用来发送声音，数据和在无线电话和蜂窝站点间发信号数据（如被拨电话号码）。IS-95是TIA为最主要基于技术2G移动通信的空中接口标准分配的编号，IS全称为Interim Standard，即暂时标准。它也常作为整系列名称使用。CDG为该技术申请了的商标。IS-95及其相关标准是最早商用的基于CDMA技术的移动通信标准，它或者它的后继也经常被简称为CDMA。
由于第二代移动通信以传输话音和低速数据业务为目的，广泛采用数字技术从 1996 年开始，为了解决中速数据传输问题，又出现了2.5代的移动通信系统，如GPRS 和IS-95B。
