Create technical design specifications based on system requirements. ·
Convert design specifications into high quality working code within allocated time frame. ·
Perform unit and system integration testing, resolve bugs and errors identified during all testing phases.
Fully capable of using the Tyco Safety Products software development, process and design tools.
Required to be able to assist Hardware Engineers when trying to isolate problems to hardware or software. ·
Mentor junior engineers.
Position Requirements ·
Strong in Linux Kernel and Linux device driver (with ALSA, or V4L2 preferred); ·
Must be proficient in C++ ·
Solid experience in Gstreamer, networking, and streaming protocols such as, RTSP; ·
Good knowledge of video codec (H.264, M-JPEG, etc.) and audio codec ·
Knowledge of software architecture, OO design and ·
MS in CS, EE, or other engineering majors with 5+ years of relevant experience, or B.S with 8 years of experience.·
Strong preference with experience developing video products, such as Encoder/Decoder, IP camera, DVR, NVR, etc.·
Interfacing with network-based security cameras·
RTP or other realtime media streaming protocols·
Dealing with compressed audio & video streams (e.g. parsing, muxing, demuxing, streaming, recording, etc.)·
I/O multiplexing techniques & server design patterns·
Design & implementation of shared libraries, including knowledge of API compatibility issues·
GNOME/GLib·
BS/MS in Computer Science or related majors.
