Helen Thomas, born on August 4, 1920, is a famous news reporter, a Hearst Newspapers columnist, and member of the White House Press Corps. She served for fifty-seven years as a correspondent and White House bureau chief for United Press International (UPI). She is called “First Lady of the Press”. Teacher’s Day around the world is not celebrated on
the same day. In some countries, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on working days.
However, in other countries, it is celebrated on holidays. Here we are giving

a resolution (决议) of the government on November 21, 1956.
The first Teacher’s Day was celebrated in 1957.
In Iran, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on May 2 every
year. It is in honor of the famous Iranian professor Ayatollah Morteza
Motahhari who died on May 2, 1980.
