Miley Cyrus was as horrified by ghosts in a London apartment as many parents are by her concerts. She told Elle UK, "It was seriously so terrifying. One night, my little sister — it sounds crazy to tell you — but she was standing in the shower and all of a sudden, I hear her scream. I run in there and the water had somehow flipped to hot … The knob had turned but she hadn't turned it and it was burning her. She was really red." The scares didn't end there. Cyrus continued that, on a different day, "I thought I had seen a little boy sitting on the sink watching me take a shower so I felt really freaked out."
The incidents prompted Cyrus to investigate the building, which she learned was once a bakery. "We found out that there was this older man that owned [the bakery] and his son lived with him there ... I thought I was seeing the son. I’m not even kidding."

Matthew McConaughey thought his Hollywood mansion was haunted, so of course he investigated it ... naked.
"She has no qualms with me. We get along just fine," he told The Sun of the ghost, whom he calls Madame Blue. "She's a cool ghost. Maybe me being nude all the time is why we get along." Well, it sure can't hurt.

Jenna Bush Hager revealed to Jay Leno that she was spooked by spirits in the White House when her dad was president. "I heard a ghost. I was asleep, there was a fireplace in my room and all of a sudden I heard 1920s music coming out," she said. "I could feel it, I freaked out and ran into my sister's room. She was like, 'Please go back to sleep, this is ridiculous.'" That is, until Barbara experienced it herself. Bush Hager continued, "The next week we were both asleep in my room, the phone had rang and woke us up. We were talking and going back to bed when all of a sudden we heard this opera coming out of the fireplace. We couldn't believe it, we both jumped in bed and were asking the people that worked there the next morning, 'Are we crazy?'" She added, "We tried to rationalize it, but they said they heard it there all the time."

Demi Lovato opened up to BuzzFeed about some spooky events that would give less brave souls a "Heart Attack." "I go ghost hunting. My house in Texas is so ridiculously haunted. Not by a bad spirit, but a little girl. I think her name is Emily," said Lovato. "I've had a medium come over and ghost hunters, and they both told me the same name, Emily. There were so many times that I saw her when I was growing up. ... When I was 3 years old my mom caught me talking to something by myself. She asked, 'Who are you talking to?' and I said, 'My best friend, Emily.'" In general, Lovato has "a really strong connection to the afterlife." "Stuff will just happen," she said. "When I walk into a room, I can tell if something has happened there or not, or if a hotel is haunted."

Carrie Fisher confessed to Vanity Fair that she was convinced her house was haunted after her close friend, Republican lobbyist Greg Stevens, died in her bed (right next to her) of a drug overdose. "I was totally convinced [he was haunting me] which kind of made me happy, because I kept thinking, 'Please don't go,'" she said. "I was a nut for a year, and in that year I took drugs again." To get rid of the spirit, as well as try to help conquer Fisher's demons, the actress' pals called in an exorcist. Fisher concedes, "After that, things were fine. But you know, he didn't j he died in mine. So it's still not gone, and I don't think it will ever be."

Coco Austin had an experiences with a creep of the undead kind. She told the "Naughty But Nice" TV show (via the Daily Beast),
"I was watching TV, I was sitting on the couch at 11 a.m., and I was wearing a nightie, and I felt my dress move up my leg. I looked down and got freaked out. I pushed it down, watched TV, felt it again, and I could see it being pulled up. And then I felt a guy breathing in my ear." Austin also noted that nothing of the sort has happened since she married Ice-T, because, well, even specters are scared of him.

Katy Perry was terrified of a ghost while filming a perfume commercial in a Beverly Hills mansion, The National Enquirer reports. “Katy told producers that while she was alone in the master suite, she turned to the mirror and froze when she saw a man sporting a mustache staring back at her, his face contorted in agony," a very detailed source claims. "Katy raced from the room and down the enormous staircase, screaming at the top of her lungs! Everyone tried to calm her down ... She told them that she would not return to that room — and wanted to get out of the house immediately.”

The often scarily dressed Lady Gaga reportedly attracted a ghost named Ryan. Sources close to Mother Monster told the UK's Daily Star, "She's been telling us all for months that she has a male spirit called Ryan who travels the world with her. She's pretty terrified by this spirit, but more than anything he's annoying her as he won't leave her alone," the insider dished. "[He] hasn't been doing anything too violent or scary but she's freaked out by his presence. She's a very spiritual person and in tune with the spiritual world but this is a step too far, even for her."

Kesha has had quite a few spooky encounters, even claiming to have had sex with a ghost, which inspired her song "Supernatural." She explained to Ryan Seacrest, "I had a couple of experiences with the supernatural. I don't know his name! He was a ghost! I'm very open to it."

Kesha's not alone in her pleasure-filled paranormal experiences: Lucy Liu also got lucky with a ghost. She told Us Weekly that she felt a presence while she was napping on her couch one night, and she engaged with it in a big way. "It was sheer bliss. I felt everything. I climaxed. And then he floated away." Here's hoping they had protection handy.

"Ghostbusters" star Dan Aykroyd ain't afraid of no ghost! In fact, he cuddled with one once. Aykroyd told Contact Music that an entity came into his bed one night and that he believed it was a man who died in his bedroom before he bought the house. His reaction? Spooky snuggling. "Not meaning to discriminate, I just wiggled right up next to him, and it was a rump-to-rump sleep for the night," Aykroyd said. "And I slept quite fine."

When Sirs Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen starred in "Waiting for Godot" at London's Haymarket Theatre, Stewart got spooked ... while he was onstage. "I just saw a ghost. On stage, during Act One," Stewart said of what threw him off, according to the Telegraph. Stagehands said the spirit is believed to be the ghost of John Baldwin Buckstone, who owned the theater until his death in 1879. Witnesses claim Buckstone often appears during comedic performances. Theatre director Nigel Everett chuckled, "Patrick told us all about it. He was stunned. I would not say frightened, but I would say impressed."

Adam Levine claims to have had an encounter with a famous ghost: that of Harry Houdini.
When Maroon 5 recorded an album at the magician's allegedly haunted abode, Levine said that the ghosts actually did some good. "I'd show up, do my work and leave before I could see the blood coming out of the walls," he joked to Female First. "We came out with some great songs so they must have helped us. And we did have a pretty epic Halloween party there."

Before her untimely death in September, Joan Rivers had a creepy encounter with a pervy spirit. While renovating a New York apartment in 1987, Rivers claimed on "Celebrity Ghost Stories" that she found lots of raunchy scribbles and sketches on her walls, and her dog refused to go inside the building. When she asked someone in the building about it, he replied, "Oh, I guess Mrs. Spencer is back." Spencer was a prior owner of the building who'd died, and Rivers hired a voodoo priestess to exorcise the spirit. Spencer's spirit left, but eventually returned, but this time Rivers welcomed her, saying, "It's comforting ... I know she's there to help me."

Before her death, Anna Nicole Smith told FHM that she regularly had intimate relations with the undead. "A ghost would crawl up my leg and have sex with me at an apartment a long time ago in Texas. I used to think it was my boyfriend, then one day I woke up and found it wasn't," she said. "I was freaked out about it, but then I was, like, 'Well, you know what? He's never hurt me and he just gave me some amazing sex, so I have no problem.'"

Keanu Reeves revealed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that he had a paranormal experience as a child. "I was in New York — I was probably like 6, 7 years old, new apartment, we'd come from Australia. Renata, our nanny, was in the bedroom, and there was a doorway and all of a sudden this jacket comes waving through the doorway, this empty jacket — there's no body, there's no legs," he said. "Then it just disappears, and I was a little kid and I thought, 'OK, that's interesting,' and I looked over at the nanny and she's like [terrified]."

Taylor Momsen told People she has photographic evidence of the afterlife. "My mom grew up in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, and her next-door neighbor died. She was wealthy, and her belongings got put in a museum," Momsen said. "So I went ghost hunting and took pictures and talked to her and all this stuff. And there are actually two images that I took, one of a hand on a typewriter and one of her entire body in a window."

Alyson Hannigan told members of the press in 2003 (via Zimbio) that her home is definitely haunted, but she's unfazed by it all. "I have a ghost in my house," she said. "I saw him a couple of months ago. I don't think he died there because there's a law in LA that when you buy a house, if somebody's died there they have to disclose that. And nobody did. So I don't know why he's there. But he's very friendly."

When Halle Berry was preparing for the role of Dorothy Dandridge, she borrowed a dress that once belonged to the siren, after which, Berry says, creepy things started happening. She told Ebony that she'd constantly hear the sound of water boiling and that she saw a baby doll dress floating in midair. Berry reportedly called one of Dandridge's friends, Geri Branton, who told her, "Honey, I talk to Dottie all the time, and if she is at your house, she means you no harm." Berry claimed that when she returned the gown, all the spooky happenings ceased.

That property is the LaLaurie Mansion, one of the most haunted houses in New Orleans and the former home of slave owner Madame Delphine LaLaurie, who gruesomely tortured slaves (and was part of the "American Horror Story: Coven" plot). Cage admitted to being too freaked out to ever sleep in the mansion, which may be one of the non-financial reasons he sold the property in 2009.

People magazine reports that David Boreanaz has a ghost that disrupts his sleep. "We woke up in the middle of the night and we heard this big bang! It felt like the bed literally fell off underneath us," he said. "My first instinct is we're having an earthquake ... turns out, it wasn't an earthquake. Cut to two weeks later, same thing happens. It's like something picked our bed up."

D'Angelo had experience with demons and deliverance as a child. The singer told Vibe, "I saw this one lady, she used to catch demons ... And one night at this revival in the mountains, she caught a demon. She was going out of her way to disrupt. She ripped the Bible apart. She was being sexual. Stripping. Foaming at the mouth. She was speaking an evil tongue ... And this brother from the choir, he and the evangelist tried to get it out of her — to exorcise her, and she was screaming, 'No! No!' She crawled out of there on all fours. There was a graveyard out back, and she was jumping on the hoods of cars. And the whole church went out and made a circle around her and started praying and singing. Then my grandfather laid hands on her. And it was over."

| Book Enquiries:It all started on a wet July afternoon&
In a London pub a friend told me of a relative with a real ghost story to tell. I was sceptical, but I
agreed to listen. It was the beginning of a strange journey.
We think of ghost stories as being entertainment. Something to enjoy around the camp fire or with
lights turned low. This story was anything but. Here was someone who&d experienced something
inexplicable and horrifying. Events that had a life-changing effect and caused great angst and pain.
With some convincing, they agreed to allow me to put their story down on paper. This was a chance
for them to tell their story as it happened, without judgement, scepticism or fear.
The meeting left an indelible mark. Were there others with a tale to tell? Others with stories they
were afraid to discuss? Having made some preliminary searches and posts on the internet, accounts
started to arrive. I was absolutely startled at what I discovered.
I spent the next six years travelling the country collecting stories. It hasn& I was targeted
by pranksters and those with problems entirely unrelated to the supernatural. I investigated and
examined each story as best I could. I checked facts, dates, news stories & attempted to obtain
anything that could back up what I had been told.
The stories in this collection are those that have stood up to most scrutiny. Where truth lies, I leave
to your judgement. I&m not out to prove anything. M I am both believer and
All I&ll say is that these stories present circumstances that are undoubtedly extraordinary. And
whether or not they represent real encounters with the supernatural, or delusions borne of
madness, they make for shocking, uncomfortable and frequently horrific reading.
