About Wifi Virtual Router ?
Windows 7, 64 bit, Home (D-Link DWA-125 started, shared and the virtual network user can connect, but no internet. The TP-LINK TL-WN422G works fine.
intel dual band wireless ac 7260 is not working
Set up the hotspot with my z77 Mpower, after reboot it worked flawless. I confirm the Arthos AR9271 working. My Android 4.2.2 One X connects perfectly. Laptop as well. thnx for this top job.
"D-Link DWA-140 RangeBooster N USB Adapter" says it's working, but not for me .. dependency failed to start. Works fine on laptop though. What's strange is taht the driver supported says 5.60.x but all the drivers ( http:///ProductInfo.aspx?m=DWA-140 ) are ~2.10ish, not even close to the versions mentioned..

I've been trying all sorts of things with two different USB WiFi dongles (one Archos G9 3G) on two different machines (one Windows 7, other Windows 8) with no success at all.
AP is not listed under the Advanced Properties.
It would be good to know if it's a basic hardware deficiency so I can just give up.

I have Intel WiFi Link 5300 and it was returning an error saying the device wasn't in the correct state. It turned out that the Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter was disabled in device manager. I enabled it and it started working correctly after a reboot.

I have a Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN mini card. Assumed since this supports the 1390 mini card the 1397 would also work. However, it says the service is not started, even though I checked and the service was running. Not sure where the problem is.

Atheros AR5B97 with Win7 Professional x64 can't make VR start, although it is a Wi-Fi Direct certified.Connectify works with this adaptor. But the SoftAP connection to devices is not stable if the Internet connection is also from Wi-Fi.

Hey, just thought i'd let you know that the Realtek RTL8191SE wireless card is also supported with the latest version of the driver (.2010)... I had to update the driver (via device manager) then reboot my pc and it worked.

I have a USB dongle wifi card that i bought from DealExtreme (http:///details.dx/sku.27963 -- known as the AsiaRF AWUHG2489).
It uses the RealTek RTL8187L chipset.
Under Windows 7 using the Win7 driver from the RealTek (download page: http://.tw/downloads/downloadsview.aspx?langid=1&pnid=1&pfid=1&level=6&conn=5&downtypeid=3&getdown=false&downloads=true) i can confirm that it WORKS....this app works remarkably well and flawlessly.
The included RTL8187L wlan utility also has the ability to enable/disable the Virtual Wifi and manage ICS within it.
It also includes all kinds of tweakable features for the chipset.I am just glad to know that this chipset works because there are a lot of high performance usb cards (e.g. this one and the Alfa AWUS036H) that use this specific chipset and i was a bit nervous to see that your chart above indicated it wasnt compatible...aparently the new win7 drivers resolved this.Thanks for the brilliant app!

I am no expert but my understanding is that not only is a supported driver required, but also the chipset in the WiFi adapter needs to support the 'Client/Station' and 'AP' modes to get AP functionality. My Intel adapter will do a 'Client' and 'Adhoc' but NOT 'AP'. The Atheros chipsets will do all modes and is why they are used in most Linux WISP platforms (OpenWRT, DD-WRT etc). This is not an issue with this authors software, it's a limitiation of the hardware.

It's affirmative that Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN does not support Virtual wifi. This is one of the two Intel Wifi Products (along with Intel 3945ABG) that does not support My Wifi, a similar utility from Intel to create a wifi hot spot in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Intel 3945ABG / Win7 Ultimate x64 - no dice. Updated driver, rebooted, service is running but VR Manager reports the service can't be started. Shame, because this could be quite nifty. FYI, http://connectify.me seems to be the same idea, but officially does not support Intel 3945ABG.

Initially, got a "Virtual Router could not be Started" error with the service started. This occurred immediately after installation but I rebooted the Win7 UIltimate x64 system and the software worked as advertised. Excellent range with my D-Link DWA-552 using D-Link 1.60 drivers. This is a nice solution for our business HotSpot.
