ridingriding a camel作动词find的宾语,very difficult作宾补。From Marrakech or Fes our simple Erg Chebbi desert camp in the dunes offers one of the best desert experiences anywhere, 29km from Merzouga and far from crowds arriving there by tour bus. You'll drive off road by 4x4 across the desert to visit Ait Benhaddou, Dades valley and Todra gorge. In the Erg Chebbi you will meet your camel guides and ride into the camp at sunset. A traditional tagine dinner will be prepared (vegetarians welcome). Climb the dunes and watch the moon rise before retiring to your bed in the nomad wool tent. Or take your mattress and sleep outside under the desert stars. The big dunes are spectacular and our camp is in a very safe yet roadless region.

All desert tours include many must-see sites like Ait Benhaddou world heritage site and Dades valley and Todra gorge. You'll also have time to stop and explore many places like rural markets, fossil beds, small museums and also walk with a Berber guide in Todra palmery. Extended tours have time to sand board, horse back ride, explore the dunes by 4x4, visit nomads, play the drums, hunt for fossils or scorpions or cool crystals, or lounge by the auberge pool. You might stop and take advantage of whatever is happening on your journey like exploring local markets, celebrations or festivals, a Berber marriage, or help villagers harvest their barley crop. It's your tour! Trips start with two or more - or if you are travelling alone you may tour.
Our simple desert Erg Chebbi camp is far from the crowds at Merzouga. It consists of a circle of
nomad tents that each sleep about 4 people - but are very rarely full. They are equipped with carpets, foam mattresses, wool blankets, freshly washed cotton sheets and pillows
- camp also has solar lighting and toilets, and carpeting around the fire pit.
All camel guides are locally settled nomads working to support their families.
The Erg Chigaga dunes are smaller, and more remote than the Erg Chebbi and takes the better part of a full days drive to get there and again to return, making Erg Chigaga impractical for shorter tours of 3 to 4 days, or if you want to go to Fes. We prefer to create a tour where you will not be in the car for most of the day going from A to B. There is a lot to see and do in the desert! The trip routes we use to and from the Erg Chebbi have many opportunities to explore a variety of environments and experiences, and allows time to really enjoy them.
We are often asked if it is safe to travel into the Sahara and the answer is Yes! (See also ). For many the desert is the highlight of their trip. We will transport you to the Erg Chebbi sand sea as well as many varied and incredible places along the way.
The Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga are the highest in Morocco and climbing them is an exhilarating experience - just remember to always carry a bottle of water with you. You can walk or ride a camel to the dunes and enjoy the ever-changing colours of this remarkable landscape, especially at sunset.
Unless you like rumaging around in river bottoms and high grass you'll never see a black cobra or any other snake in Morocco except in the Jma El Fna square in Marrakech. Scorpions by nature are nocturnal, and hybernate during winter months. They also avoid anywhere that they have no protection from the hot sun, and you'll have to go hunting turning over rocks to find them. Snakes and scorpions don't want to have anything to do with humans, meaning they'll prefer to run away if given a chance.
We use vehicles like Toyota Landcruisers and Prados or similar. SUV 4x4's have lots of room and they seat 4
people quite comfortably. All ours are within 4 years old, and are routinely required to update licensing and service checks through the Transport Touristic authority in Morocco. Our vehicles and drivers are assigned to tours on the basis of who is available when and where. Our vehicles and drivers originate from Marrakech, and if you are staying in any location for an overnight, the car and driver will also stay as well. Your driver however will stay at the desert auberge while you are on the overnight camel trek.
The camel trek isn't hard, almost anyone of any age can ride a camel. Getting on is easy, if you can swing a leg over the kneeling camel. The camels are really gentle and our camel guides make sure everyone is comfortable. On trek you can ask the guide to stop anytime, and you can also walk into the camp. It's a leisurely 1.5 hour journey on foot.
For those whose dream is to wander the desert like a nomad and sleep under the stars deep in the dunes, you will want to experience a camel trek. For those wanting to enjoy the tranquillity of the desert without travelling by camel, we can arrange for a night in the desert auberge, and enjoy the comfort of an en-suite room on the very edge of the dunes, and (with extra cost) take a camel ride at sunset as an alternative. There are no roads into the dunes or our desert camp, but you can tour around the dunes in the 4x4.
In a nutshell, hot in summer, warm in spring and fall, warm to cold in winter. It can vary immensely depending on where you are. The further south you go will be hotter. The High Atlas mountains offer relief from Marrakech's hot summers, with pleasant daytime temperatures and cooler nights. These mountains experience full 4 seasons, with deep snow falling some winters. Snowpack can stay on high mountain passes until mid-June. Flash thunderstorms can be spectacular during the summer. Sand storms and mud rains occasionally last an hour or so, and make memorable experiences.
Because sand does not hold any heat, the Sahara dunes can be cold at night and
in the winter very cold with pleasantly warm sunny daytimes. Summer daytime in the dunes is very hot, but you will not be in the dunes until sunset when they begin to cool off. Summer nights in the dunes are a fantastic opportunity to sleep out under the stars and watch the universe in all it's wonder.
We use air conditioned vehicles to keep you comfortable, but please remember to drink water often. Fruit juice, coffee or tea are not considered proper rehydration fluids.
In January, February and March there are fewer tourists, and sunny warm days in the desert contrasting with snowy High Atlas in the distance is otherworldly.

Many warm blankets are supplied.
A long cotton scarf to wrap around your head is recommended if sand is blowing, you can buy one for about 50-100 dirhams (depending on size) if needed. They’re great for keeping sand out of your hair, nose and eyes. Longer pants are most comfortable on camels. It can also be cold in the desert at night November to April, so bring warm cl sweater and jacket, hat and gloves. Walking shoes with socks are best, sandals will fill with sand and irritate your skin. Winter nights (December, January and February) you'll need to also wear warm socks, long pants, plus bring a warm coat, hat, and gloves.
